Daniel M. Nigrosh, President & CEO

After graduating Boston University in 1979 in Political Science and Economics, Dan spent 8 years at a small, recycled boxboard mill in New Hampshire. During that time he worked in Sales, Product Development and as Mill Manager. In 1987 the mill went broke and Dan needed a job.

A few months later Dan sold a hydrapulper to a mill in Connecticut and with a profit of a few thousand dollars, started CAN-AM Machinery. By reinvesting the profit countless times in more and bigger equipment, CAN-AM has become the largest and most successful dealer of used pulp and paper equipment in North America. By keeping promises, CAN-AM has a solid reputation for performance and jobs well done.

Rich received a BSEE from Tulane University in 1982, completed the Navy ROTC program and was commissioned an Ensign. One of the last to have been personally interviewed by Admiral Rickover, Rich served 5 years in the Nuclear Navy and qualified in submarines. In 1987, Rich made a dramatic career change; from Fleet Ballistic Missile submarine at an undisclosed, secure location in the Atlantic, to clay coated recycled boxboard in Indiana.

Rich enjoyed a challenging and rewarding career in various mills for 17 years. Duties included project engineer, machine superintendent and plant manager. The last four years were as lead engineer for a brown field rebuild consisting of all new boiler room, stock preparation, and two complete new papermachines. That experience notwithstanding, Rich always preferred the use of secondhand equipment. When an opportunity arose at Can-Am it seemed a no-brainer, and Rich joined the Can-Am team in June, 2004.
